Explanation:

  • The wavelength determines the type of light used in laser treatments and which chromophores (melanin, hemoglobin, etc.) it targets. The Alexandrite laser (755 nm) is more effective for hair removal on lighter skin tones and finer hair, while Nd

    (1064 nm) penetrates deeper and is better for darker skin tones​(Motus AY User Manual '22).

Why and How to Change:

  • For light skin tones (Fitzpatrick I-III) and fine hair, use 755 nm (Alexandrite).

  • For darker skin tones (Fitzpatrick IV-VI) or thicker/deeper hair, use 1064 nm (Nd) because it penetrates deeper without damaging the melanin in the skin​(Motus AY User Manual '22).

  • How to change: Select the wavelength on the machine's control panel according to the skin type and hair thickness.
