Explanation:

For fine or thin hair, use a shorter pulse duration to focus energy on the small hair follicles.
For thicker hair or darker skin, a longer pulse duration is preferred because it allows time for the skin to cool between pulses and avoids overheating the skin.
How to change: Set the pulse duration on the machine according to the hair thickness. The Motus AY machine allows for adjustable pulse durations from 2 to 50 ms for Alexandrite and 0.2 to 50 ms for Nd
